Early pins can be modified for the later bolt and later ones can be dropped into early bolts. If you break the gun down a lot, it's easy to lose the pin from the early-style bolts since it just sits in there loose. The firing pin seems to have excessive "play", it moves forward and back as the rifle is tilted. It appears to be free floating. I see no damage to the pin, but wonder if this normal or do I need a new pin? ... I've tried Numrich gun parts but they are out of stock. Midway only carries the late model firing pins. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Don't fix what ain't broke. I change out to a Wolff reduced power hammer spring in my Marlin 1894C 357mag because I changed out the OEM two piece firing pin to a one piece stainless firing pin which is heavier firing pin.
